Knocked Up

June 14, 2007

Simply put, I disagree with A. O. Scott of the NYT.  He says this movie strikes him as an instant classic.  Well, if you thought “There’s Something About Mary” and “Dumb and Dumber” are classics, perhaps he is right.  This film will play on late nights to audiences with desperate lives so theirs won’t seem so bad after watching these characters.  Also, if you like the humor of Howard Stern–yes I know many people do–then perhaps you will also like this movie.  Mind you, Howard Stern is a champion of free speech and I love him for that.

But just because you have the freedom to speak doesn’t mean you must.  I wanted my money back and I didn’t even pay for my ticket!  No way I could get the 2 hours and 9 minutes of my life back.

I liked Katherine Heigl in 2005’s “The Ringer” but even her pretty face and innocent practical personality could do nothing to get me interested in this inane, un-credible story.  I would think after all the acting she has done she would not choose such a lame movie.  I did get two good laughs out of it, but save your money and do something else with your 2 hours and 9 minutes.
